I have been waiting to see Bright since previews started appearing over the summer. I mean Will Smith, he doesn't really do bad movies and Netflix has been giving the people (us) what we want (more movies and shows!). I, of course was ready for Bright when it came out in December 2017. I did NOT look at any in-depth reviews or previews. Going in, the only thing I knew was Will Smith = cop. So I was curious when I saw this green fellow beside him in the Coming Soon email I received from Netflix.
The movie opens with an interesting scene of Jacoby (Joel Edgerton) ordering food and asking Ward if he wants “red or yellow sauce,” from a food cart on the sidewalk, while Ward (Will Smith) is abruptly confronted by a criminal. You can also find Ike Barinholtz (Mindy Project) and Jay Hernandez (Suicide Squad) as Sheriff Hernandez in Bright. There are also fairies (do NOT think Tinkerbell) and they are very unpleasant and rather aggressive. And if you haven’t guessed by now magic! Lets discuss Jacoby’s origin (I really don’t have origin details but), Orc’s are a complete other species and they aren't treated very well, reminds me of modern day minorities. The Orc's have their own language and their own code - Orcs hold clan law above all else. Orcs test loyalty and have a process (blooded) which is like a right of passage. Jacoby is not accepted by other Orcs because ha filed his teeth, this seems to be something very few Orcs do to conform to human(?) norms or to be socially accepted by non-Orcs. Oh and Elves! They clearly are the upper class and living the life. During the brief drive through Elftown (think Rodeo Drive), you could see that they were well off and very snobby. Rapid fire time: Shield of Light, Inferni and of course Bright. Shield of Light and organization that is preparing for the Dark Lords’ (not Voldemort) return and they have a tattoo that lights up with a black light (cool!). Inferni, rebel elves working with the Dark Lord to help bring him(?) back, by getting three magic wands they are able to raise someone…the Dark Lord from the dead. A Bright a being who can touch a wand (otherwise you pretty much implode…not very pretty). Have you seen this movie yet? If not, is it in your queue? And if you have seen it, will you watch the second one? I will be on the look out for the 2nd installment I am hoping to find out more about the Elf society and Elftown…I'm intrigued. Stop here if you have NOT watched the movie and plan to, or if you care about Spoiler Alert(s): I'm confused on what exactly happened to Will Smith after he was shot in the opening scene, i.e. how was he able to come back? What process does he have to go through? And I love the seemingly full circleness (yes I know not a word) of the young Orc that Jacoby let go being the same one that is about to take Jacoby’s life at the end. Of course he doesn’t do it but dad did. Did you have any favorite parts?!

Apple Pay Cash is now live with the 11.2 updateApple Pay Cash is supposed to operate just like PayPal and Square Cash. Apple Pay Cash can be used wherever Apple Pay is accepted or you can use it (like PayPal) to send and receive funds. (I have not confirmed personally) but I do not believe you can use Apple Pay Cash with Android users. It is pretty quick to get set up, once you update to 11.2 Apple Pay Cash is ready to go!
Did you catch the AMAs this year? I don’t usually watch award shows…but this year I really wanted to catch Tracee Ellis Ross hosting as she is definitely feeling like my spirit animal these days. I enjoyed her hosting and would love to see her hosting again. Things that stood out to me tonight: Pink and Kelly Clarkson…Yaaaaassssss…that is all. Demi Lovato performed Sorry Not Sorry, my reaction…heads to iTunes to download. Alessia Cara, great voice…duh. Shawn Mendes I watched him perform and later accept an award, he really seems like a nice kid…I’m rooting for him. Chadwick Boseman, wait he is an actor, but he's Black Panther (also James Brown, Jackie Robinson…Persons Unknown) and he is extremely attractive (hey boo!) okay sorry back to musical acts. BTS, I’ve been wanting to see what the all the commotion was about. They are very cute and have a serious fan base, this was their first American TV performance, safe to say it was a success. My top 3 performances: Kelly Clarkson medley, she took me back, goodness this woman can sang! P!nk in 8 words: she performed on the side of a building. A freaking building! The JW Marriott to be exact, amazing! I cannot wait to see her in concert in a few months! Diana Ross, who was presented with a Lifetime Achievement Award. I got teary watching her perform towards the end. She really is a trailblazer (not to mention the iconic hair fluff, that I like to use when I'm feeling fabulous!). They don’t make ‘em like this anymore. She brought her grandchildren on stage for the last song, too cute. Then brought her entire entourage (family) on stage as they presented her with the award. (Sidenote: her grandson afro was EVERYTHING) Watching her close out the show brought tons of warmth to my heart. Good music is so therapeutic, I needed that reminder.
What did you think of the show? What were some of your faves? Late last week I realized that an item I had ordered (a REALLY cute pair of baby Ugg boots) would be delivered while I was out of town. So I used the UPS app (I signed up UPS My Choice several years ago, it alerts me anytime my address is used as a package destination and provides me with with the tracking info automatically) to see what options I would have, i.e. hold and delivery another day. To either hold and deliver a different day or to change the delivery address cost $5. I didn't want to pay that, so I decided to try the UPS Access Point option, which came up as well but at no additional charge. The UPS Access Point provides locations where secured UPS lockers are available to hold your packages. Once the item is delivered you are notified (via email and in app) that the item is ready for pick up and it provides a barcode. The app also told me to have a government ID available. When I got to the location the lockers were on the outside of a 7-11. I walked right up, selected the button that I wanted to pick up a package (because apparently it is a UPS drop-off location as well) , the system then prompted me to put in my tracking number or scan the barcode. I scanned the barcode from my phone, the system told me which locker the item was in and then unlocked the door. I took the package and the system inquired if i was finished I pressed yes, transaction complete. By the time I got back to the office I had an email saying that the item had been picked up. With the holiday season coming up I would definitely consider using this again, it was VERY seamless! Has anyone else had experience with this? Disclaimer: There was NO compensation paid for this review/recommendation and all items received were purchased by me. A little over a year ago I randomly (because I didn’t even know this was a thing) came across this Mastectomy Pillow on Etsy. I of course clicked on the picture, since I just so happened to have a mother who would be having a double mastectomy in a few short weeks. And I am always searching for items or ways to make this process a little less awful, stressful, manageable, (feel free to insert your own word here)____________.… The link took me to the Pink Pepper Co. shop on Etsy. Where in short, I found everything mastectomy. Of course there were things that I hadn’t even thought of, from button down cotton shirts to lanyards to hold the drains. I ended up ordering one of the gift sets, because it included mastectomy surgery shirts (3) as well as a mastectomy chest pillow. The shirts I thought were great because they are cotton, so they are comfortable for regular daily wear during recovery and do not require lifting your arms up. The chest pillow is genius, because well…after that type of surgery you are going to want a buffer…especially on the car ride home (to start). In my true obsessive compulsive fashion, I placed my order, then freaked to about the size of the shirts and contacted the shop owner Leslie. Not only did I question the size I ordered but also if I would get it in time (as my mom’s treatment facility was out of town). Leslie was great and had no issue with changing the shirt sizes. Luckily I was capable of making the crucial decision on the shirt sizes and she got my order sent out asap. I received it with ample time before heading to my mother’s surgery appointment. The entire process was painless and speedy. What made me feel even better about my purchase was finding out that Leslie was a breast cancer survivor herself (I mean not too crazy…seeing as the products she is providing are clearly from one who has gone through the process). I love supporting small businesses, it is important and this shop great! About Pink Pepper Co, directly from their site: Pink Pepper Co. specializes in post op comfort products for breast cancer and mastectomy healing. We feature Mastectomy Pillows, which provide comfort and protection after any type of breast surgery. As a patient is healing, they need to apply soft pressure to the chest area, and offer protection against bumps, drops, and the occasional pet or child jump. Our Mastectomy Pillow is the perfect solution. Equally important is our Mastectomy T Shirts, which are 100% cotton, have easy open snap fronts, and are specifically designed to discreetly hold drain tubes and provide comfort during healing. These are worn 24 hours a day by patients for the first month of recovery, and are absolutely necessary when mobility and movement are limited. Made by a Breast Cancer Survivor who understands, for other future Breast Cancer Survivors! I am so thankful for Pink Pepper Co., they were a true life saver…my mother…a year later still uses the pillow (she has not had reconstruction) and likes the padding if not wearing her prosthesis. I STRONGLY recommend visiting her site (www.pinkpepperco.com) if you have a loved one who will be going through breast cancer related surgery in the near future. Have you heard of Ollo? I recently got a "pre-approved" offer in the mail. Introductory offer of 0% interest for 15 months on the Ollo Platinum. After checking their website I see they offer 2 credit cards, Ollo Platnium (OP) and Ollo Rewards (OR). The OP has no annual fee while the OR is $39 annually. Both cards offer: no over the limit fee, returned check fee, foreign transaction fees and no rate hikes if there is a late payment. The OR offers 2% cash back one as station, grocery and drugstore purchases and 1% on all other purchases. This sounds like a good starter card, but I do not speak from personal experience. For me I personally have no use for a Ollo at this point, a few years ago it might have been a totally different story. So I will not be taking them up on this offer. Are any of you already using this card? Would you recommend it to a family member or friend? What are some good starter cards that you would recommend to others? My first thought, we could have just ended the series with the last season, everything was all settled and wrapped up nicely with the characters that you know, maybe hate and have possibly grown to love. This season doesn’t really make me change my mind. But I really want to! Why? Three reasons 1) Gabrielle Anwar…love her and miss all of her FABULOUS outfits in USA Network’s Burn Notice; 2) Adelaide Kane…loved her in The CW’s Reign…but since loosely based on the story of Queen Mary of Scotts, its clear the show could not last forever (oh and wardrobe for Reign was on FIYAH!); 3) Dania Ramírez…I immediately recognized her from Devious Maids on Lifetime, I appreciate the diversity being added here. I like that the show is shaking up these timeless fairytales with main characters who look more representative of our society today. I noticed that it appears that they have added Princess Tiana into the mix…finally! And these are some of the reasons I really want to love this season. I’m just not there yet. I get the idea of multiple dimensions with their own versions of the same stores going. I do think it is cute that they have started this season the way the show originally started. But the fact that they are reinventing their own wheel, I guess I just feel like it is unnecessary. I wondered if moving to Friday was a bad sign, but NBC’s Grimm was on Friday and I REALLY enjoyed that show…hated to see it end last year (you just get so emotionally attached to these shows sometimes!). I digress..I’m going to continue to hold on, in hopes that I get where I…hope to be with this show. How do you feel about Operation Next Chapter, now that the 2nd episode of season 7 has aired? Harlan Coben’s The Five came to my attention by O.T. Fagbenle, you may recognize his name Hulu Original Series The Handmaid’s Tale, he plays Luke in the series. I enjoyed this British TV show that focuses around the disappearance of Jesse, a five year old little boy, twenty-two years ago. The Five are composed of Jesse’s older brother Mark and his friends Danny (O.T. Fagbenle), Slade, and Pru who were thought to be some of the last people to see Jesse. With the fifth person being Jesse himself. Twenty-two years later the four remaining kids, now adults, have remained somewhat close. We find out during the course of the series that Danny’s father was the lead detective on the case and there may have been questions around his work on the case. Ultimately Danny’s father who is suffering from Alzheimer's, in a lucid moment, suggest that evidence was missing from the case file because he was protecting Danny. The story opens up with Danny, now a detective himself for Wentbridge Police, working a crime scene of a completely unrelated case (which was very interesting, interesting how? Think walking humans, held against their will, on dog leashes and with collars), and running DNA tests on evidence found at several different crime scene. The results are shocking and bring back a lot of old friends into the fold to get to the bottom of what happened to little Jesse twenty-two years ago. The series has 10 episodes that are roughly 44mins each on Netflix. I enjoyed this series and would recommend giving it a go, if you are looking for a new show or series to binge. Let me know what you think! Anything new that you have seen that you believe his binge worthy? If so share below! Have you had a chance to try Shea Moistures Jojoba Oil and Ucuuba Butter Protective Styles line? What did you think? If not do you think you will give it a shot? What other products are you using when protective styles in braids or cornrows?
