I’ve been excited about this show since I saw the first preview (early summer/late spring). Why? Because I think Freddie Highmore is adorable and he has a special place in my movie/tv heart; ever since I finally broke down several years ago and watched Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (starring Johnny Depp) and I thought he made a wonderfully uncomfortable Norman Bates in Bates Motel. It also helps that my grad school crush is also in it (and by grad school crush, I mean in grad school I stayed up late to catch him in CSI NY), him being Hill Harper. Oh and how can I forget about another one of my other grad school faves?! Antonia Thomas! Love her! We became besties while I watched Misfits (UK). So the show is about (Doogie Howser on steroids) a young doctor who also has autism, Dr. Shuan Murphy…who also has a photographic memory? Clearly he is brilliant…and awkward is an understatement. The first 15mins were a little over the top for me, but I get it, the pilot needs to be good so we all show up next week. It was interesting to see the series helped the audience visualize what is going on in Dr. Murphy’s head. I don’t like to do spoilers so I will just leave it at that. I will be catching the next episode as it will start dealing with some of the realities of the situation, how do other medical staff work and interact with him and how do his superior(s) decide what cases to assign him to? Did you watch the series premiere? What did you think? Did it make the cut for you? If you have not seen it do you plan to?
